Brief Biography: Mark was born and baptized in 1965 and later confirmed in Scarville Synod Lutheran Church. He attended Scarville Christian Day School for his K-8 elementary education. He graduated from Kiester-Walters High School and Bethany Lutheran College with an Associate of Arts degree.
In 1985, he married Marlene (Heller) from Mankato. They lived in the Scarville area for thirteen years and were blessed with four children: Rebekah (1986), Jesse (1988), Marta (1992), and Aaron (1994). He farmed with his father, Norman, on the dairy, hog and crop farm until 1997. In 1998, they moved to Sheridan, Wyoming and lived there until 2004. They moved back to Mankato in 2004 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany Lutheran College in 2006.
In Wyoming, he worked in construction, plumbing, landscaping and lawn irrigation systems. Currently, he is the janitor at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Rebekah graduated from Bethany Lutheran College and has taken a position as a nanny in Halden, Norway for a year. Jesse is in his third year as a student at the United States Military Academy located in West Point, NY. Marta is a junior in high school and Aaron is in eighth grade.
